...JC is absolutely brilliant. A font of information and so helpful. I've already got a private client to teach English through him and today he gave me a list of all the English institutes in the area.
BA is one crazy town. Last night I went with Juan Carlos, my landlord, and the other "extranjeros" in the house (from Hungary, the States, and Finland ! ) to a Brazilian nightclub. We didn't get there until about midnight and the place was only just starting to liven up. We wimped out about 1.30 and the place was going off.

The house is lovely. I have a little room on the roof, which I've got looking very nice.with a few bits and pieces I bought in my trips. We basically live in the courtyard as it's very hot just now and that in any case is the focal point, all the rooms being off of it...

Finally in Buenos aires!

....we are staying in the suburb of Caballito (which means little horse), which is about 15 minutes to the centre on the metro. We are staying in a family home stay with a really nice and helpful man called Juan Carlos Dima. If anyone is going to BA and wants to stay somewhere I highly recommend him: he has taken us out to some really good bars, given us heaps of information about BA, and tomorrow he is going to cook us an asado (a traditional Argentinian grill). He is generally a really helpful person.

A note from a Dutch guest...

THE ARGENTINE HOUSING GOD:

... there is this guy, Juan Carlos Dima, who is absolutely in love with his city and is veeerrrryyy happy to inform all tourists/ex-pats as to its many virtues. He runs two guesthouses that permit long-term stays. He may even find you a job.
Trust me -- you have no better pal in Buenos Aires than JC!!
Room space is limited, so email/fax him.

Hello Travelers:

What Juan Carlos offers is the truth.
My wife and I have completed a 2 month stay in Argentina. We stayed at his house and used it as own headquearters while we travelled throughout Argentina.
One of the best benefits for staying there has been the kind and helpful assistance that we have received from JC himself, who has made it possible for us with limited Spanish to be able visit most of the worthwile places not only in BA but throughout Argentina. We went places and saw things that we could never have done on our own.
Buenos Aires and all Argentina captured our heart... and with JC' help I had one of the best vacations in my life.
(Also staying at his house was cheap but you do your own cooking.)
So there are my two cents worth from Vancouver Island.

Here is a place where I stayed when I was in Buenos aires. It is a short walk from the subway and bus lines in the nice neighborhood of Caballito.

The owner, Juan Carlos, is a cool Argentine guy that speaks English and has many interesting yakes on life. Check it out and tell J C that John says "hi"!
