A "real" GUESTBOOK ... with testimonials of some of my guests !

It was my first time in BA and it was great to have someone you can trust meet you at the airport and take you to his guest house. I like to think of myself as an independant kind of guy but it was good to have a local that could give you advice regarding not only BA but the whole of Argentina & Uruguay.
Ciao

A nice oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city centre
I´m in my forties but young at heart and when I decided to spend a month in Buenos Aires learning tango and practising Spanish I wanted to stay somewhere economical, homely and authentic. I didn´t want a hostal filled with party animals nor an impersonal hotel.

Juan Carlos´s house in Caballito was perfect with just the right touch of independence and warmth. It's in an lovely, leafy, safe area close to the underground, great restaurants and shops; and most important for me, it's away from tourists. .

Juan Carlos can speak perfect English but we conversed in Spanish so I could practise. He was a great host who went out of his way to make sure I enjoyed my stay. When I told him I loved theatre, he found out alternative groups I could see, which I would never have found out about on my own. His local knowledge is excellent and he knew how to maximise my stay with all sorts of great ideas to enjoy the fascinating Buenos Aires. In a month I feel I really got to know the city thoroughly, thanks to him.
I will definitely stay here again.

I kicked off a year-long journey around the world with a week-long stay at Juan's home in Caballito and would not have had it any other way.
Juan and his home made me feel welcome, and Caballito's location allowed me the space I wanted to soak in the local flavors and culture. Juan's home is also convenient, with subways, bus stops, supermarkets, internet cafes, and restaurants all nearby.

Juan is extraordinarily knowledgeable, experienced, and kind. Staying in his home, I felt like I was in good hands and I feel lucky to have found him. I look forward to visiting again when I return to Buenos Aires in the future.

I'm an American traveler who stayed in Juan Carlos's guest house both times I visited BA (2003 and now). It is something of a cross between a homestay and a hostel, with Juan Carlos as your local bilingual guide. He recommended events and took me to places I would never have found in my Lonely Planet. He also helped me to navigate a sometimes overwhelmingly large city.

My favorite part is that while the Caballito house is centrally located, it is completely outside of the tourist-filled parts of town. This is a great option if you want to see the real Buenos Aires and visit parks, restaurants, and cafés off the beaten path. It's a difference experience from staying in a hostel in Palermo or San Telmo, and is a good place to meet like-minded travelers.

Away from tourists

Juan's Caballito apartment is a great place to stay in Buenos Aires.

The neighborhood has lots of personality and plenty to do, but it's off the tourist path. Everybody speaks spanish to you and the cafes are good. If you want an authentic experience away from all the gringos, this is your spot.

Staying at Juan' house is the best!

It was perfect to kick off our stay in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires in the peaceful barrio of Caballito. Laid back, close to good eateries and anything else you could need.
Juan is the greatest, friendliest host and he kept us updated on local events and the best places to shop. So if you are looking for an alternative to noisy youth hostels and crummy hotels don't look any further!

We had an amazing time at Juan Carlos´ house It is clean, very welcoming and within only few days it felt like my second home! J C is very friendly and gave me some much needed help upon arriving in Buenos Aires with translation and tips for sight-seeing around the city.
He even did a barbeque on my last night which was fantastic!
John.

It was my first time to Argentina and I couldn´t speak a word of Spanish but Juan was a great host taking us to a local resturant, giving us maps and advice and even cooking up a storm on the bbq!!! I would recommend his house to anyone travelling to Argentina.
