It was a real pleasure.

Staying a month in Juan Carlos' house in San Telmo was a real pleasure.
The appart is very well located. Cleaning services are also very good.
We recommand it to everybody who wants to rent a long term appartment and enjoy the city fully. Juan Carlos gives awesome advices and tips about the main attractions and the rest of the country. Also we followed his advices concerning Uruguay beaches and it was worth it!
Many thanks for everything you did for us.

Muchas gracias Juan! :)

I stayed with Juan for a month from June to July in 2010 and I'm so glad that I did.

I'm studying Spanish in university and was in Buenos Aires to practice and to sightsee. Juan couldn't have been more helpful, he provided me with maps and advice on places to see and things to do, set me up with language classes and was incredibly patient with my (initially) poor attempts at speaking Spanish!

It was wintertime in Argentina and I have fond memories of lying tucked up in bed with the rain pouring down outside my doors, the heater blazing and Tato the siames cat curled up on my lap.
The area is perfect, there's everything you need practically on the doorstep. There were no tourists at all in the area when I was there, which was brilliant for my Spanish! The price of my room was incredible value, and I also saved a pocket by being able to shop in the local supermarket and cook my own meals.

When I left his house to travel around the north of the country he dropped me off at the airport and I was even able to leave my huge rucksack at his house while I was away, which left me unencumbered and able to really enjoy my travels!

I can't recommend staying at Juan's highly enough. He's a very warm, generous and kind man who shared his home, his wine, his meals and his mate with me and made me feel so welcome and comfortable in a strange city where I didn't know anyone. When I return to Buenos Aires it will be nice to know that I have a friend there, and a nice, clean place to stay.

Our home away from home

We loved staying in Caballito. It is close enough to the main attractions of the city but it feels completely different than the usual neighborhoods where visitors stay. It is the real Buenos Aires and in two weeks we never noticed another tourist. It is a lively area with a mix of housing and shopping. And the house is a pleasant place to come home to and there is a good mix of guests.

Juan Carlos was always willing to tell how to get around, what to see, and where to buy.
His English is good, but if you want to practice your Spanish, he patiently listens and gently corrects.
If you are looking for the sort of place described on the website, you will enjoy staying with Juan Carlos.

Just a quick note...

...to thankyou for your help and hospitality during our two week stay in Buenos Aires.

Despite your busy schedule you always had the time to share a coffee and give us pointers on how to enjoy the highlights of Buenos Aires. Directions on the use of the buses, trains and taxies made accessing the city very easy despite our lack of Spanish and your personal escorting to some of the areas was most welcome.

What a great visit to a city that you can only truly understand with your heart!

I was in the cozy guesthouse of Juan Carlos. He became a friend easily, a local with his great understanding of a foreigner to BA. I live in NY where life is rather well organised, however BA is whole different kind of world. The beautiful exchanges I had at my stay with JC helped me a lot to "feel" the city, rather than compare. And it was always nice to come home, to know that I have a real home there, not a hotel.

The memories are rich and plentiful. I loved my outings on the roof of the house and hanging my washed clothes there, drying in the sun and wind.

And there was Juan Carlos as a real friend helping out when my plane did not take off the day I expected, because of a missing part on the wing. He picked me and two other stranded women up from the airport and brought us safely home. For two more days the three of us were enjoying our extended stay at his guesthouse. It was magical. Thank you again! This is a guesthouse with true hospitality that you would only expect from friends. I will be back!
